Setting Research

For our final clip in our thriller task, a young girl is seen running through a field. Around the area Frankie and I live in, there are plenty of fields to choose from to shoot in. We decided to take a camera with us to each field and take a picture of the setting to decided which one we felt would be the best for our piece.

This is the first field we viewed as a potential setting for our final scene where a young girl runs for her life. We felt this field was compatable because it's a large open space in school which meant it was easy access, however, this field is not perfect as there are cars and the drive in the far background which may confuse the audience and takes away the mysterious feel.

This is our second potential setting, I feel this field would be the best place to set our piece as there is a wood in the background which will really contribute toward the mysterious and dark theme. However, the rugby 'H' is a huge distraction, although we can film past this obstruction so it isn't in view.

This is our final potential set, I do not feel this set would work as the field is far too small and the cage can be seen in the left side of the screen. Although the wood in the background is effective we have already found this in the second set (shown above) and so I don't feel this set is as good.

Furthermore, another of our scenes is of a young girl sat in the corner of a small, sinister room. We decided my garage at night time would be a good place to film this scene as it's large, dark and easily accessible. I spent a day clearing my garage out (with the consent of my mother) and created enough space in one corner to place a chair.

I firstly took a picture of this set around 2pm which showed a good clear image but I felt was too bright and would not have given a sinister, dark feel to the clip.

I then returned to the set and took another picture at around 5pm and found it was much darker with a small shed of light, although this picture appears possibly too dark I shortly after filmed this scene and found the picture was clear and still contained a mysterious feel.
