Evaluation - Question 6

• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

From using the software for our film I have found great difficulty in understanding how to use it effectively and to my best potential. Like many other students, there were often errors that I was unable to solve and therefore asked my teacher for guidance in many situations.
Throughout shooting each scene I got a really great understanding of how to use the camera and tripod and enjoyed learning, using and exploring them. When editing the piece I also enjoyed being creative and looking into all the techniques we had the chance to use. Editing the piece itself was proven fairly easy, as cutting each scene and placing them together in time to the music was straightforward. However, when it came to rendering and exporting our piece on several occasions we had great difficulty in doing so successfully.

The software we used to edit our piece was called 'Adobe Premiere Pro'

When using the camera and tripod, setup was easy and we found shooting the clips effectively was quick and simple. We used the tripod to gain different angles and distances, giving us more interesting shots for our piece. Although it wasn't a highly professional piece of equipment we are proud of the good quality images and recordings we have recieved from the camera and found no issues with usage as we filmed.

Unfortuantely as we filmed the outdoors scenes in our piece we shot at different times of the day which meant some images were lighter than others. For example, when we shot the running scene when the female character is running in slow motion away from the camera it was late in the day and so the scene appears quite dark. However, when shooting the close up of her feet as she ran we shot on another day at an earlier time. This meant there was a difference in lighting and they didn't blend well. After using the editing software we were successfully able to darken the shot and allow them to blend more easily thus creating a more realistic, flowing piece.
