Evaluation - Question 7

• Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at the preliminary task, I have found taking a much larger role in the creation of a piece such as this is much more difficult. I feel I had far less input and responsibility for the preliminary task and did not work to my full potential. Having now put so much time and effort into this film opening I feel I have really stepped up and worked harder to learn and show I have the potential.
I have also learnt how to use Adobe Premier Pro further and how to use certain effects to allow the piece to appear even better. Following this, I have also learnt how to use a camera successfully and edit the shots I have taken.

The quality difference between the two pieces is highly significant as we put far more planning, research, time and effort into our thriller piece. Not only because there were less group members but also because we had more knowledge on what needs to be done to allow our piece to be as effective as possible.

Comparison between Preliminary shot and Tortured shot

The main difference between these two shots is setting, as in the preliminary task (picture on the left) the two girls are having a heated argument. This setting does not really fit with the situation but had to be used because it was the only space we had access to at the time. However, the shot on the right of a scene from 'Tortured' is in a much darker, creepy setting meaning it fits with the genre of the piece and allows a much more atmospheric edge. With the knowledge and experience gained from the preliminary task we were given the ability to correctly identify where would be a suitable place to shoot and how to shoot it.

Overall Frankie and I are really pleased with our end product and the expertise showed through our piece would not have been gained had we not experienced our preliminary task first.
